Happy New Year 2009!

The Lunar new year used to be our favourite childhood holiday. We would receive lots of red envelopes filled with money and allowed to drink cold drinks. Today, new year means reuniting with my family and wishing for a year of happiness and health.

Shun celebrates his first Lunar New Year in Singapore this year. He liked the red packets but didn't fancy meeting the unfamilar faces who came too near his comfort zone. Happy and cranky depending on his mood. Hope he will be able to interact more next year. Happy new year!

Influenza virus

Last week was a tough week for my family. Shun caught the influenza A virus and ran a high fever of 40 degrees for 2 days. He couldn`t sleep nor eat and cried almost non stop for the 2 days. We had to take turns to carry him and there were times where we couldn`t pacify the poor boy at all. Shun has never been so sick like this before. Takashi and I were very worried and at the same time totally helpless to his screams of discomfort.

Luckily his fever came down on the third day without other serious symptoms like pneumonia. Besides a slight runny nose, he is back to his usual cheeky self. Credits to my mother in law who rushed from Osaka to take care of us. Without her, I could be sick from exhaustion too.

I believe the worst is over and its going to be a great year ahead!

Mum`s new hat

Shun helps to model my new hat bought during the bargain sales.

Happy 2009

Happy 2009! We are back in Matsumoto after an annual gathering at my in laws place. Takashi brought back a bad cold and is still battling with a sore throat and runny nose.

Besides that, we had a relaxing holiday in Osaka and even managed to get some good deals for Shun`s winter clothes during the new year sales.

I finally bought some new clothes for myself too...!! Can`t control myself from all the bargain sales going on everywhere.

We look upon the beginning of a new year as a chance for a fresh start. 2009 will be a year of new challenges and movements.

Wishing all health and happiness in this new year.
